28 Years Inside

In 1986, Calvin Duncan, a New Orleans native, was sentenced to life without parole, probation or suspension of sentence on a murder charge in Louisiana. During his incarceration, Mr. Duncan obtained his GED and studied the law. He served as a paralegal for other inmates for 23 of his 28 year sentence.

Mr. Duncan was released in 2011 after Innocence Project New Orleans presented evidence that showed he had been falsely accused. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor degree in Paralegal Studies at Tulane University, is a Soros Justice Fellow, an Echoing Green Fellow, and volunteers to assist incarcerated individuals prepare for reentry.
